SEND Provision at St Philip's

As we are all created in the image and likeness of God, as a school, we endeavour to provide all children with the highest standard of education. For some children, this means providing them with additional support.

In our school we have a wonderful range of abilities and needs, class teachers work alongside other professionals in order to provide all of our children with the best education. As a school we provide training throughout the year for our staff to access the most up to date recommendations for children with SEND. If teachers are concerned with the level of progress children are making, the details of their concerns are recorded and additional support may be given.

The school invests heavily in staff, in order to give our children the best possible support through their primary school years. Teaching Assistants are deployed throughout the school to provide support for the children within the classrooms and to provide intervention programmes for the specific needs of individuals or groups of children.

Examples of the intervention programmes we use in school include, but are not limited to;

  • Motivational Maths
  • Motor Skills United
  • Stockport Early Reading Intervention (SERI)
  • Toe by Toe
  • Better Reading Partnership (BRP)
  • Art Therapy.

Parents are consulted in every step of this journey and SEND reviews are held termly to measure children’s progress and to report this to parents. Progress meetings for all children, those with SEND and those without are held every half term between the class teachers and the Headteacher.
