Communication and Language
What is Communication and Language?
Communication and Interaction refers to the support pupils may need with their speech, language or communication needs, as well as social communication skills.
Children at St Philip's Catholic Primary School are all screened through the Early Years Welcomm Toolkit in their Reception year, which helps staff to identify any barriers to language development which we can support with as part of our early identification approach. As pupils move into Key Stage One, this support continues for those children who require this, following the Primary Welcomm Toolkit.
Our Communication and Language offer also includes universal support, targeted interventions, and specialist support from our school Speech and Language Therapist, Harjinder Kaur (SALT).
